Established in 1995, the School of communication, Dr. G.R.D. College of Science, Coimbatore, has completed a decade of its fruitful existence.

Students of this department have excelled in various fields.

What do these young men and women have to state about their alma- mater?

States Arun J, lead designer at SlideShare, Delhi – The combination of Tradition Media Studies, Social Psychology, Writing, Advertising, Marketing & New Media have given me an edge over others.

Alok, now employed as a copy writer, states that, all his subjects helped him immensely. However, his opinion is that it would be nice that, if students were given a particular area to choose and specialise in, in the final semester.

Munna states that, her job as a copy writer entails not only the creative aspects of  copy writing but also copy editing, proof reading and allied areas including research. The students’ exposure to the subject like Writing for Media, Computer in Communication Media has helped me a lot.

R J Harikrishna of Hello FM is exuberant about the support he received from the members of the faculty while he coped with his studies and his studies and his stint as a RJ, all at once.

Juhi Lalka registered for her Post Graduate degree in Communication at GRD because of the support that she received from the head and other faculty members especially regarding her subject – Public Relation, in which she would like to specialise.

Some students are of the opinion that the course contents has too much to offer viz – Visual Arts, Photography Videography, Audiography but less of specialisation.

Should the curriculum become more specialised?

Well, this three year degree aims at giving students an overall knowledge of theoretical ad practical aspects of Media & Communication. Specialisation would alter the very raison d’ etra of the curriculum. Course content is however altered and modified from time to time as per the industry trends.
